The constituency covers 41 municipalities and stretches from the French border on the banks of the river Rhine to the mountains of the Black Forest in the west.
As a student, Alexander Bonde was granted a scholarship by the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange programme. In 1992/1993 he graduated from Kahuku High School in Hawaii, USA. It was during this time that his interest in international affairs in general and in North America and Asia in particular was sparked. Today he regularly participates in German-American and German-Asian activities. He is member of the board of the German-Atlantic-Association and member of the German-US, German-Japanese, German-Chinese, German-Korean and German-ASEAN Parliamentary Groups.
